Sixth Form Colleges

The Holocaust Centre hosts one day conferences for sixth form students studying history, theology and philosophy. The three conference programmes are:

What was the Holocaust? – A one-day conference for which focuses on recent publications and academic debate in the field.

Theological Responses to the Holocaust - A one-day conference looking at how the Jewish community has struggled with the theological implications of the Holocaust and the issues it raises for Christian theologians.

The Problem of Evil - A one-day conference considering the nature of good and evil, issues of personal and social responsibility, the complexities of failing societies and ethical considerations.

The aim of each conference is to complement and expand the student’s knowledge of the Holocaust and its attendant issues in the history, theology and philosophy curriculums.

Of the Berlin street: “At this point, I felt things really clicked into place and the children began to understand day-to-day life for Jews.”  The carriage was engaging and poignant; children really got to see what happened in reality, but in a sensitive way.”  “The home was atmospheric and children got a real feel for life in Germany in the 1930s.”
